snickerdoodle cookies Recipe

  Cookie

Ingredients:
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbl. granulated sugar
2 tbl. cinnamon

Directions:
preheat oven to 400 degrees. Mix together shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt. Chill dough for 1/2 hour. Meanwhile, mix together 2 tbl. sugar and cinnamon in a bowl.

Roll dough into balls the size of a small walnut. Roll balls in sugar and cinnamon mixture. place balls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. let cook for about 45 seconds to 1 minute and remove or they will stick to the pan.
makes 5 dozen cookies
these are really good and I end up making 10 dozen every Christmas. good luck
