Shepherd's Pie Recipe

  British Potpourri

Ingredients:
1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 envelope brown gravy mix
5-6 med. potatoes, peeled & cubed

Directions:
Brown the meat & onion. Drain off grease. Add the water, salt and pepper. Simmer 10 minutes. Stir in gravy mix. Pour into greased casserole. Boil potatoes in salted water, then mash well with a little milk and butter. Spread over meat mixture. Bake at 400 degrees 30 minutes or til nicely browned.

This is pretty authentic since Mom is from London. You can also make this with ground lamb.
