Maria's Lo-Fat Italian Sweet Bread Recipe | |
Italian Bread | |
Ingredients:
1 cup warm milk1/4 cup melted margarine 4 oz. thawed frozen egg substitute 3 1/2 cup bread flour 1/2 cup sugar zest of one medium size lemon, or orange 1 1/2 tsp instant yeast 1 egg white, beaten 3 Tbl sugar non-stick cooking spray
Directions:
Set your bread machine to the ""dough"" cycle. Add first 6 ingredients to your loaf pan in order listed. Level off and make a well in the center of the flour and add yeast.When dough cycle is completed, spray cookie sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Turn dough out on a lightly floured surface, knead 5-6 times. Shape into a loaf, cover and let rise in a warm draft-free place for about 30 minutes. Make an incision along the top of the loaf with a sharp thin knife. Brush entire loaf with beaten egg white and sprinkle generously with sugar. Bake in oven for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Bread is done when a knife inserted in the center comes out clean |
