Cocoa Brownies Recipe

  Dessert

Ingredients:
1 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup margarine, melted
4 eggs
1/2 cup cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts

Optional Frosting:
3/4 cup margarine melted
2 cups powdered sugar
3 tablespoons cocoa powder
3 - 4 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
Finely chopped nuts

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan. Combine flour, salt and baking powder; set aside. Beat eggs and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light. Beat in cocoa and vanilla and the melted margarine. Gradually beat in the dry ingredients. Stir in nuts. Spread in prepared pan. Bake 30 - 35 minutes, no longer. (Center will still seem a little soft.) Frost while still hot.
For frosting: Beat ingedients together, using enough milk to bring to spreading consistency. Spread over hot brownies. Sprinkle with finely chopped nuts. Cool brownies completely before cutting into bars.
