Texas Slaw Recipe

  American Salad

1 large cabbage
1 large green pepper
1 c. wine vinegar
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 large onion
1 med. carrot
2/3 c. salad oil
1 tbsp. celery seeds
1/2 tsp. salt

Chop vegetables very fine, or grate. (I use my blender). Combine sugar, vinegar, oil & seasonings in glass measuring cup; heat to boiling in microwave, or put in small saucepan and heat on stove. Pour over chopped, well drained vegetables; mix well. Cover & chill at least 2-3 hours before serving. Will keep several weeks in refrigerator. Makes 12-15 servings.
