Country-Style Creamed Spinach Recipe | |

Ingredients:
Makes 2 or 3 servings1 (10oz) pkg. frozen chopped spinach Boiling salted water 2 slices bacon, diced 1/4 cup minced onion 1 garlic clove, crushed or minced 1 tablespoon flour 1/4 cup milk, half-and-half or whipping cream 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Pinch sugar Salt to taste 1 hard cooked egg, chopped, if desired
Directions:
Cook frozen chopped spinach in boiling salted water according to package directions. Drain well in strainer or colander; set aside. Saute diced bacon in a medium saucepan until limp. Add onion and garlic. Saute until onion is tender. Blend in flour. Cook a few seconds. Mix in drained spinach and milk, half-and-half or whipping cream. Add Worcestershire sauce and sugar. Cook and stir until thickened. Add salt to taste. Garnish with chopped egg, if desired. Makes 2 or 3 servings. |
